409 days
In these long days and short years, what memories do I hold onto,
and what do I allow to drift away? The choice is mine, and it matters
because holding on through observation is how I keep what time tries to erase.
409 days ago, Raia Was performed at
Ki Smith Gallery, on the Lower East Side of New York City.
A place filled with the past of others, those who,
like her, walked along the fault line of their own voice.
She played beautifully that night. I witnessed through a lens,
imperfect in my technicalities, but perfect in my purpose:
to keep the moment.
Today, like other days I go back to it. I look back,
again and again, as the memory drifts further away.
I do this because the answers are there. The feelings too.
I seek them because I need them. Sometimes the present overwhelms
and so I go back to a place that makes me feel settled.
Home…Raia Was’s music is always that place for me.
409 days ago, Raia Was performed a piano-composed rendition of her track Money Worry.
Thank you, Raia Was, for inviting me in. For inviting us in.
With gratitude,Side Projects
